This rudder pin size has been mis-named as short pin by the Confluence marketing department when it should be named Mid Pin, but mounts as a Bayonet Pin on some models. See the Industry Standard Pin Size Guide Video for a better understanding. Maybe Dual Pin should be the name.
The redesigned rudder blade has a foil-shape for more efficiency and less drag in the water. Mid Pin style can be used with Wilderness Systems style rudder brackets (aka Mid-Pin) such as the .
This kit takes the place of the , and all other older Wilderness Systems mid pin style rudder kits. Not only is this a mid pin style but is also a bayonet style unique to Wilderness Systems kayaks such as the Thresher and Focus models that would be outfitted with the Course Control or bayonet style BTS rudder.
For use with all Wilderness Solo Systems kayaks (planned for use with plastic hulls, this kit should be applicable to composite as well) that require an external square stern rudder bracket.
This rudder kit will fit: Tarpon series, Tsunami series, Pamlico solo series, Ride series (the pre 2006 original Ride requires an additional part, Cape Horn series, as well as the Mad River Canoe Synergy series. May also be applicable to the Perception Sport Destiny 12 and Perception Sport Pescador. Tandem Wilderness Systems kayaks, such as the Tarpon 135T, Polaris, and Pamlico, will benefit from the WS Tandem Rudder Kit. However, this kit can be used on the Polaris, Pamlico two-man series, and other similar two-man kayaks.
The additional Tandem Supplemental Rudder Kit, sold separately, will allow for solo paddling of a single large cockpit tandem. The bracket in this kit is not intended for some older WS brand kayaks, such as the original Ride, custom bracket, and the Sealution with a metal cast aluminum rudder bracket for a pointed stern.
This kit comes with Keepers XL Foot Braces, Spectra Cord, Rudder Bracket, instructions, and all the parts needed for installation. Instructions are broad and may not address your Wilderness Systems kayak model directly. Call WS Tech support if needed: 888-52-KAYAK
