I purchased this seat because the boat I found didnt have one. With a little ingenuity it is very secure and fits me, a 6'-3" 220 paddler, quite well. FYI the dimensions given on this website are outside dimension. I found that the inside dimensions (available room to sit in) for the small seat is (w x d): 14.76 x 12.80 inches and (w x d): 15.94 x 12.80 inches for the medium seat.
This seat reminds me somewhat of the one on my uncle's old '39 Ford tractor. I could sit in that all day long.
